Dr. Jennifer E. Close Veterinarian-Owner
Dr. Close was born and raised in Orlando. In fact, her family has taken their pets to Ocoee Animal Hospital since she was a young girl. After attaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida, Dr. Close worked as an engineer in Texas for several years before deciding to pursue her true passion of working with animals. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida in May 2011. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA), and the Central Florida Veterinary Medical Association (CFVMA).
Dr. Close was inspired to become a veterinarian by her heart dog, Doogan. She rescued Doogan from a shelter in Texas in 2005 while still working as an engineer and found a true calling for veterinary medicine while nursing him back to health after adopting him. Doogan was Dr. Close's greatest teacher in behavior medicine and helping senior pets enjoy their best quality of life for as long as possible. Though Doogan crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2020, he continues to inspire Dr. Close everyday to help her patients lead healthy and happy lives.
Dr. Close loves all things Florida Gators, especially Gator Football. She enjoys gardening, working out, spending time at the beach, traveling, and relaxing with friends and family.
Dr. Kristin Stroud Veterinarian
Dr. Stroud graduated with honors with her DVM from the University of Florida in May 2001. She loves medicine, finding solutions, and performing soft tissue surgery to help her patients. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA), and the Central Florida Veterinary Medical Association (CFVMA).
Dr. Stroud was inspired to choose her career path thanks to a very special dog she had while growing up. As this dog got older, he began developing age-related problems that a young Dr. Stroud wanted to solve. Today, finding solutions to help pets in need is one of her favorite aspects of being a veterinarian, along with providing her patients with love and care, and working alongside wonderful staff. She also enjoys being able to treat such a wide variety of medical conditions…and getting to see puppies.
Dr. Stroud and her husband have 3 Cocker Spaniels named Maddox, Brody, and Dexter. She loves Gator football, being outside in nature, taking long walks with her dogs, scrapbooking, and spending time with close friends.
Brittany Practice Manager
Brittany assists in providing the highest standard of care for our patients and clients. She started out as a kennel technician at a boarding facility, eventually became a receptionist, then trained as a technician. Since moving into management, Brittany has been studying to sit for her CVPM exam.
She is a member of the Veterinary Hospital Manager’s Association and the Florida Association of Veterinary Practice Managers.
Brittany was born and raised in Massachusetts, and later moved to Orlando to study at UCF. She and her husband have 2 dogs; Grant, who was found in a Disney parking lot, and Violet, who was adopted by her husband before they started dating. Outside of work, Brittany loves spending time walking the dogs and exploring Orlando’s many theme parks.
Xima Veterinary Technician
Xima has loved animals from a young age. Originally from Puerto Rico, she relocated to Florida in 2017. She plans to pursue collegiate-level education in veterinary technology to obtain her certification. Xima takes pride in seeing patients grow, helping them when they’re sick, and sharing her knowledge to help owners provide the best care for their pets.
Outside of work, Xima enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her 5 furry friends: Kubi, Spartan, Mia, Baby, and Princess.
Tessa Veterinary Technician
Tessa began her veterinary career as a kennel technician. She also did pet relocations and grooming. She then moved on to become an assistant manager, then a receptionist, and then a vet tech—and she’s remained a vet tech ever since. She relocated from Michigan to Orlando, FL to gain new experiences.
Tessa derives great joy from helping families and their beloved pets. To her, there is nothing better than helping a pet live their life to the fullest. She loves creating lasting bonds with people and their animal companions.
Tessa has 2 cats, Brains and Revvie, and a bearded dragon named Orion Adonis. She likes to spend her free time learning new things about space (and keeping up with NASA and SpaceX), being outside, going to drag races, and admiring classic cars.
Ossie Veterinary Technician
Ossie works in the veterinary field because he genuinely loves people and animals. He loves making a difference in the lives of pets and their owners, and will do whatever it takes to improve the health of any pet. His journey to a career in veterinary medicine began at a bird show he attended. While there, one of the best doctors in the world came up and asked Ossie some questions about a parrot of theirs. One thing led to another, and they invited Ossie to their hospital and offered him an opportunity.
Ossie and his wife Michelle have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren. They also have a dog, 14 parrots, and 50 koi fish! Outside of work, his hobbies include fishing, motorcycles, customizing cars, trucks, and bikes, and video games.
April Customer Service Representative
April chose the veterinary profession due to her love of animals and passion for customer service (she has 20 years of experience). She enjoys developing meaningful relationships with our clients and their pets. April shares her home with a dog named Maddox, a rescue, who loves stealing socks and burying them in the backyard. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
